Badr Jafar is CEO of Crescent Enterprises, the privately-owned conglomerate operating across eight core sectors of the global economy.
Badr has a variety of international and commercial interests, including shipping, serving as the Chair of the Executive Board of Gulftainer (the world’s largest private container port operator); and real estate, serving as a board member of Enshaa PSC (UAE). He also plays an active role in private equity initiatives, serving as a member of the boards of the Abraaj Group (UAE) and GrowthGate Capital (Bahrain). Badr founded the Pearl Initiative, established by the Private Sector of the Gulf Region in cooperation with the United Nations Office for Partnerships to promote a corporate culture of transparency and accountability. He sits on the Global Honorary Board of the Cherie Blair Foundation for Women and the Global Board of Education for Employment (EFE), and is a member of Board of Governors of the Synergos Arab World Social Innovators (AWSI) Program and a Board Member of Endeavor UAE, an initiative which encourages impact entrepreneurship. He is Chair of the Alumni Association of the Cambridge University Judge Business School, and a member of the Business Advisory Council for the American University of Sharjah. Badr was honoured as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum and is Vice-Chair of their Global Agenda Council on Energy Security.
