Samantha Barry is a social media producer with BBC World News & a global media trainer.
In her role with BBC she is responsible for utilising social
media as a tool for newsgathering as well as community and audience
building. She also works as a technology trainer for the US State
Department and the United States Institute of Peace. Samantha is an
Academy of Achievement 2012 delegate and recently named as one of
the top 50 female innovators in digital journalism in the world.
Born in Ireland and based in London, Samantha has worked in over 25
countries, training in broadcasting, technology and social media.
Her roles have seen her travel to Burma, Iraq, Nigeria and Papua
New Guinea to work with bloggers, activists and journalists. She's
is also currently working on a start-up video app for mobile
journalism, called Vizibee.
