Mustafa Alrawi is currently The National's Business Editor and an accomplished journalist and broadcaster with more than 13 years experience working in the UAE, Middle East and the UK.
He has been living and working in the UAE since January 2004,
launching 7days as Deputy Editor in the same year. He was Managing
Editor of Emirates Business 24/7 (now Emirates 24/7) when it was
the region's first English language business daily between 2007 and
2009, running a newsroom of more than 70 journalists. In 2003,
Mustafa helped launch Iraq Today, the country's first English
language newspaper after the fall of Saddam Hussein's regime,
working and living in Baghdad and leading a team of Iraqi
journalists. He has written for The Guardian, the UK's Independent
and the Jordan Times and Daily Star as well as a number of
international magazines including Esquire. In 2006, he presented a
weekly radio show on Dubai Eye, Al Majlis, focused on local news
and affairs. His novel Creating Rachel was published by London's
Quartet Books in 2012 and is distributed in the UK and UAE.
